おやきさんの友達、近所のカラスさんはこの地域のカラス向け日刊紙『デイリー・カア』の購読者でもある。『デイリー・カア』の目玉は「お悔み欄」。数世代にわたって付き合いのあるカラスにとって、どこの誰が亡くなったのかはひそかに一番重要な情報なのだという。

『デイリー・カア』は夕刊のみ。通常、若い独身のカラスやリタイヤしたシニアカラス向けには日没頃にショッピングモールの屋上などで販売されているが、子育て中のカラスには巣までお届けする配達サービスがある。デイリー・カアの配達は子育て中でも地域の情報が入る、と若い世代に好評だ。
